ABOUT SQL SHORT READS

Hello there! I am Chris, the author and creator of SQL Short Reads. After working on this project on and off for over two years, I’m thrilled to welcome you to my corner of the internet.

Through my blog posts, I discuss various topics involving structured query language (SQL) and how I have used it to solve real-world problems. These blog posts will often include scenarios where SQL has been integrated with Tableau, a popular data visualization tool, or methods on how to achieve the same goal with either, alone.

SQL Short Reads is also intended to be a learning portal for SQL users of all experience levels. Whether you are just getting started or have been using SQL for years, I am confident you will learn something new in the various pages I have authored covering what I refer to as SQL Fundamentals. To allow readers the ability to practice the concepts covered throughout the various pages, I have created over 100 SQL Practice Problems with solutions included. I will continue to add problems and content, periodically.

Why I Created SQL Short Reads
As a passionate learner and teacher, I find the vast majority of paid and free learning resources covering SQL falling short in two aspects. These resources focus on the how. The reader or viewer is instructed on how to do a great many things in quick succession; however, when to do those things and why are rarely touched on. My goal for SQL Short Reads is to provide readers a more complete understanding by commenting on the when and why while solving real-world problems.

Experience
As a lecturer at a major university and manager of business intelligence developers at Experian, I have taught SQL to hundreds of students and many business professionals. For more information, please check out my LinkedIn.

Thank you for visiting my page.

Happy querying,

Chris Perry
